Please oppose SJR6 Environmental Rights. 


The measure would eliminate the current Constitutional environmental protections in Section 21 of the New Mexico Constitution and replace them with a private right of action for anyone to sue based on a perceived past, current or future environmental harm. 


If passed, this measure would undermine New Mexico’s current environmental and regulatory structure and clog the courts with costly and frivolous lawsuits, handicapping New Mexico’s ability to diversify and grow our economy for future generations.
